Care & Maintenance Guide
Every piece of professional cycling apparel is made with high-stretch fibers such as Lycra, functional breathable finishes, and precision-constructed padding. To maintain the performance, moisture management, and fit of your gear, please follow these care guidelines:
1. Immediate Care After Every Ride
- Wash promptly: Salt in sweat can gradually break down elastic fibers such as spandex. We recommend washing your cycling apparel as soon as possible after each ride instead of leaving sweaty garments in the laundry basket for days.
- Rinse with clean water: If you cannot wash the garment right away, at least rinse off most of the sweat with clean water first.
2. Preparation Before Washing
- Zip up all zippers: Exposed zipper teeth can scratch technical fabrics or snag delicate mesh panels.
- Turn garments inside out: Washing inside out helps protect printed graphics and outer finishes while allowing the dirtiest inner surface to be cleaned more effectively.
- Use a laundry bag: We strongly recommend placing cycling apparel in a fine mesh laundry bag to prevent tangling, pulling, and distortion during washing.
3. Important Washing Rules
- Wash in cold water: Keep the water temperature below 30°C / 86°F. High heat may cause fabrics to lose elasticity or shrink.
- Do not use fabric softener: This is one of the most important rules. Fabric softener can clog the fabric’s micro-pores and reduce its moisture-wicking and breathability performance.
- Do not use bleach: Bleach may weaken the fibers and cause color fading.
- Use a mild detergent: Choose a sports detergent or a gentle, neutral laundry detergent.
4. Drying & Airing
- Do not tumble dry: High heat from dryers is one of the fastest ways to damage elastic fibers and shorten the life of cycling apparel.
- Air dry naturally: Do not wring the garment aggressively. After washing, lay it flat or hang it in a cool, well-ventilated area to dry naturally.
- Avoid direct sunlight: Prolonged exposure to strong UV light may cause colors to fade and fabrics to become stiff.
5. Special Care for the Chamois
- Clean thoroughly: The chamois is the area most likely to retain sweat and bacteria. Make sure water flows through the foam layer during washing.
- Check for debris: After drying, inspect the seams and edges of the chamois for any trapped dirt or sand to avoid skin irritation on your next ride.
Brand Tips
Rotate Your Kits
Wearing the same pair of cycling shorts on consecutive days can accelerate fabric fatigue. Giving the fibers 24 hours to recover helps maintain elasticity and may extend the life of your gear by another season or more.
Velcro Warning
Velcro on cycling gloves, saddle bags, or other accessories can easily damage technical fabrics. During storage and washing, always make sure Velcro is fully closed and kept away from your cycling apparel.
